Laura Sell brings several decades of experience to her role as Senior Director, Head of Investment Operations at Ashton Thomas, with a professional journey that spans accounting as well as investment-related fields.

During a career on both the asset owner and investment management sides of the industry, she has fostered a passion for empowering others to reach important financial and life milestones.

“I like to come up with creative solutions to complex problems and help others be better prepared to achieve their goals,” Laura said.

Laura earned her bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Minnesota Duluth in 1990 as well as her MBA with a concentration in finance from the Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota in 1997. In 2001, she attained the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA^®) designation.

A lifelong Minnesotan, she has resided in both of the Twin Cities as well as Duluth. She enjoys spending time with her husband, Jim, and daughter Livia, who is currently finishing her freshman year of college. Laura’s hobbies include watching movies, reading, traveling, taking fitness classes, and lifting weights. Most recently, she has picked up pickleball in her spare time.

As an active member of her community, Laura has also served as a volunteer with the CFA^® Society of Minnesota, City of Brooklyn Park committees, and her local homeowner’s association.
