Joe joined Ashton Thomas in 2021 after a solid career on the asset custody side of TD Ameritrade. As Director of Technology Implementation for Ashton Thomas, Joe focuses on educating and supporting our advisors in all aspects of the firm’s tech stack. He also acts as an interface with third-party vendors and our custodians on process improvement initiatives and promotes adoption of best practices across the firm’s tech ecosystem.
Joe was born in southern California, but he grew up primarily in his mother’s home city of Naples, Italy. His father, a U.S. Navy veteran, held a civilian position with the Department of Defense that allowed them to live abroad and experience the rich cultural heritage of the Mediterranean peninsula. After completing high school and one year of university in Europe, Joe’s family relocated to Hawaii where Joe attended Hawaii Pacific University, majoring in International Relations and minoring in French.
While he had originally aimed to join the Foreign Service, Joe decided to remain stateside after graduating, moving back to the mainland and taking a position as a regional manager for a skate and surf retail company in California. It was during this time that his brother recruited him to what was known then as TD Waterhouse. Joe joined the company in a service and support role covering advisors with less than $100 million in assets under management. In time, Joe was promoted to the core service team at TD Ameritrade (TDA) and covered larger advisory firms in the Great Lakes Region. Because of his attentiveness and commitment to providing exceptional service, Joe was selected by TDA to join the advisor transition team, which helped advisors move their books of business to the custodian. It was during this time that Joe began interacting with Ashton Thomas in a third-party support capacity, assisting with the transition of Managing Wealth Advisor Brienne Dylewski to Ashton Thomas and TDA.
In his final role with TDA, Joe was a senior technology consultant who supported firms and advisors through the process of identifying, selecting, and implementing tech stack solutions for their practices. As part of the Charles Schwab acquisition of TDA, Joe’s position was eliminated in 2021 providing the opportunity to join Ashton Thomas in his current role.
As self-professed “big music fan,” Joe enjoys the technical aspects of music production and performance and has moonlighted as a DJ since his college years. A man of purpose and intention, Joe even uses his hobby for the greater good. He participates annually in a 24-hour charitable music marathon to raise money for the NAMM Foundation, which advances active participation in music for all children regardless of socioeconomic status. Joe also enjoys spending time on his Harley Davidson taking in the scenery and fresh air of the desert southwest and southern California.
