Josh grew up in western Colorado before receiving the prestigious Davis UWC Scholarship, after which he completed his secondary education at an international boarding school in Montezuma, New Mexico. While there, he represented the United States on the USA Debate Team in Croatia, Singapore, Slovenia, and the world championships in Germany.

Josh resides in Grand Junction, Colorado, with his girlfriend and their Bernese mountain dog, Millie, where the three enjoy easy access to the nearby mountains. He spends his free time skiing, golfing, hiking, watching Formula One, coaching local debate students, and racing in a go-karting league.
