Julie Olander
CFP®, AAMS® | Senior Private Client Financial Planner

Julie joined Ashton Thomas in 2022 as a Financial Planner. Julie is part of the firm’s Advanced Planning Team. She focuses on providing financial planning solutions to advisors of the firm and their clients, with a geographic focus on the Rocky Mountain Region.

Julie enjoys learning and being challenged. Despite family ties to the financial industry—her mother is a CPA and her grandfather is a CFP® professional—Julie insisted on forging her own path in life. Entering the University of Colorado at Boulder as a molecular biology student, she changed course to study biology, then ultimately chose psychology as her major. It was during her sophomore year in college that her parents challenged Julie and her siblings with an investment exercise. They were each given money to invest in the financial markets, but they also had to explain why they chose the stocks they did and justify their choices. With that, the seed of a career in financial services was planted.

After graduating from college, Julie spent three years educating and coaching college students with career placement. She joined USAA as a Financial Foundation Specialist in the insurance division in 2014, where she worked with member clients to enhance their portfolio. Always talking about the financial markets, her supervisor recognized a strong interest and aptitude for financial planning and encouraged Julie to pursue training within USAA to obtain her securities and insurance licenses, as well as the Accredited Asset Management Specialist℠ (AAMS®) designation. Julie became a Certified Financial Planner™ (CFP®) professional in 2022.

When she is not preparing financial plans for clients, Julie and her husband, Maxim, enjoy off-roading with their two dogs, Ninja and Bear. Part of their passion for off-roading is finding waterfalls in the mountains of Colorado and Montana. As recent Montana transplants, they look forward to spending more time outdoors exploring their new surroundings in Big Sky Country.
