Melissa Patafio
Senior Transition and Operations Associate

Melissa serves as Senior Transition Specialist for Ashton Thomas Private Wealth. She is based in the firm’s Scottsdale headquarters and focuses on evaluating, planning, and executing project-based transition plans for advisors and their clients moving to Ashton Thomas. She also assists the firm’s Operations team with project related efforts and interfaces with the firm’s institutional custodians. She joined the firm in 2022.

Previously, Melissa was a Contract Transition Specialist for Wealth Management Transitions, primarily serving their largest client, Fidelity. In that role, she focused on transitioning wirehouse advisors to RIA clients of Fidelity’s institutional custodial business, Institutional Wealth Services. Other roles she held previously included Registered Principal Delegate for an Ameriprise office in the Boston area and high-net-worth Broker for Fidelity’s retail division in Denver. Prior to that, Melissa held several roles across the Charles Schwab organization, from new accounts and advisor services to risk management and corporate training. She started her career in the hospitality industry, spending almost a decade with the Four Seasons.

“Working in the high-end hospitality business prepared me in many ways for my career working with affluent client and the advisors who support them. It’s about setting expectations and then exceeding them. Bringing a high level of service to everyone you deal with every day. This mindset is very prevalent here at Ashton Thomas, so it feels like home in that sense.”

Melissa grew up in the northwest suburbs of Chicago and relocated to Arizona when she was in high school. In keeping with her heritage, she pursued and received a Bachelor of Science degree in American Indian Studies from Arizona State university (ASU), graduating in 2009. Melissa is currently pursuing a Master’s in Legal Studies at ASU, concentrating on Tribal Law and Corporate Compliance.

Melissa is currently a resident of Scottsdale. She describes herself as an “avid reader” who also enjoys hiking and traveling when she can.
