Mike joined Ashton Thomas in 2021 as the Managing Senior Wealth Advisor for the firm’s Casper, Wyoming office. Prior to joining the firm, he was a Senior Vice President and Wealth Advisor with Wells Fargo Private Bank for 25 years. During his career at Wells Fargo, Mike developed a deep understanding of wealth planning and investment management for high-net-worth individuals.
Mike is a Wyoming native, part of four generations of family who are happy call the Casper area home. He is a graduate of Casper College and the University of Wyoming, where he majored in finance. During his tenure at Wells Fargo, Mike obtained his Certified Trust & Financial Advisor (CTFA) designation through Cannon Financial Institute. Mike was awarded with Wells Fargo’s prestigious Concord Elite recognition award eight times before leaving in 2021.
After more than three decades in a large corporate environment, Mike chose to continue his career with Ashton Thomas. Today, he is focused on helping high-net-worth clients who have “worked hard” to create their wealth, stating, “My goal is to provide the best service and advice, be the advisor they deserve, and help them enjoy and preserve the legacy of their life’s work.” Mike is proud to serve multiple generations of families, helping them to navigate the complexities of managing their wealth.
Mike feels privileged to lead the Casper Private Wealth Team, which includes Kate Johnson and Shawn Porter. “Our clients trust us, ” Mike says, “so it is incumbent on us to stay on top of our profession and provide the focused solutions our clients need. I believe Ashton Thomas gives us that edge which, ultimately, benefits our clients.” Mike is also pleased with the firm’s commitment to Wyoming through community involvement and charitable giving, noting, “Together, we are investing in our local communities.”
Mike and his wife, Stacie, have been married for over 25 years, they have three adult children. They are also proud owners of a local RV park, River’s Edge RV & Cabins Resort, which has become a staple for travelers visiting scenic regional destinations like Yellowstone and Mount Rushmore. Mike credits his experience as a small business owner with giving him the unique ability to “look through the eyes” of his clients and better understand what it takes to make tough business decisions.
Mike is proud to serve on the board of directors at the Wyo Sports Ranch in Casper, Wyoming. He also serves as a board member for the Dallas Safari Club – Wyoming Chapter, and as an investment advisor for the Wyoming Wild Sheep Foundation.
